What We Do

Two Decades of Experience in Sustainable Construction and Real Estate

Schreiber Brothers Development was founded by Baltimore native Brendan Schreiber with a simple but ambitious vision: to prove that real estate development can be profitable, community-centered, and socially responsible—all at the same time. After a decade spent in economic analysis, diplomacy, and construction management, Brendan returned home to build a company that prioritized sustainable, inclusive growth without displacing the very residents it aimed to serve.

Our name honors Schreiber Brothers Market, a beloved family business that operated in Lexington Market for more than fifty years. As one of the largest grocers in Baltimore City, it stood as a pillar of community life. That same spirit of service and commitment to Baltimore is at the heart of our work today.

We are an impact-driven developer focused on delivering strong economic, social, and environmental returns for residents, investors, and communities. Every project begins with local voices—engaging neighbors and community leaders early and often to ensure our developments align with shared priorities. We pair that collaboration with sustainable design, responsible building practices, and data-backed planning to ensure long-term stability and opportunity.

Our core focus is on scattered-site development that fosters mixed-income, walkable neighborhoods. By expanding both affordable rental and homeownership opportunities while avoiding the pitfalls of concentrated poverty, we help create vibrant communities where economic diversity drives sustainable growth and no one is pushed out.

Across all projects, our commitment to social justice guides the standards we uphold:

  • Reversing the toxic legacy of redlining, and its many adverse public health effects.
  • Ensuring that legacy/low-income/non-traditional buyers and renters can remain in their communities affordably.
  • Designing and building nearly all of our projects to achieve Zero-Energy and/or Passive House certifications.
  • Sourcing labor locally and supporting workforce development in high-skill and green jobs.
  • Building close partnerships with community leaders for strong, collaborative outcomes.
  • Prioritizing local businesses, nonprofits, and community-serving organizations.

At Schreiber Brothers Development, we’re building more than housing—
we’re investing in Baltimore’s people, neighborhoods, and future.
